Should the age to get a tattoo or piercing be loweredor raised?

Even though I won't get a piercing or a tattoo, I do think that the age should be lowered. It is a persons own decision of getting a tattoo or not. It is a sense of expression and creativity, so why should we infringe on their rights to express themselves. It is their own life, so why do you need to get in the way of their decision if it doesn't affect your life what-so-ever.

How can teenages who's brain isnt fully developed make a big decsion like that? That is something you have to serious think about and decide if its the right thing for you.

Again, why does their decision affect your life? If they end up not liking their tattoo(s), they can get it removed or get a coverup. Yes, people can make mistake, but why should your opinions affect the decision that they would happen to make?

No because a tattoo is a decison that is with you for the rest of your life. You dont want people to decide on a tattoo, get it then regret it a few years later. You want people to have the time to ponder this decison before deciding.

while yes i believe that many highschool students want tattoos. i also believe that we are to young to understand what we want. all of the hormones and everything that equals out our bodies are always going to make us want something. and whether thats a tattoo or to have free rein. getting a tattoo when you are under the impression that it is not going to look cool in the future, is not a proper way to get a tattoo. if the parent feels it is not right when they are under the age of 18 they should notbe allowed to get them

a lot of young people are denied jobs because of their piercings and tatoos. employers stereotype people with tatoos and piercings as bad people. if this is right or not i dont know but it happens, so why should we let younger and younger kids get tatoos and piercings, they could very well miss out on oppurtunities they otherwise would have had.

Honestly it depends more on the context of who would be getting the augmentation, how old they are, and what they want to get. Personally, I don't like seeing someone who has more than one or two face piercings and a large visible tattoo. What would be the suggested age to have it lowered to?

As someone who is twice the age of everyone in this class, I think I may have experience on my side. I have many friends who got their "I'm 18!" tattoo, and they now regret it. When you're 16, 17 or 18-- heck, even 20-- you don't know where your life is headed. Getting a arm sleeve or a lip piercing seems cool, but when you're a 23 year old who cannot get a job because your 50 year-old boss doesn't understand your sweet body art. Think carefully.

People under age may not realize that the tattoo is something they have to live with forever, and they may only want it because it's cool and their friends have one. If they get one, and then ten years later, they may realize that it's harder to get a job.

Why? That's all I have to ask. Why does it need to be. If your mom doesn't want you to get a tatoo when you're 14 then your life is over? Why would you have a need for a tatoo when your a teenager? There is no point that I see that is valid. None. At. All.
